Richard Morgan in front of the Berlin Wall

RICHARD MORGAN

Richard Conrad Morgan was born in 1956 in Eastbourne, England. A graduate of the Universities of Bristol, England (B.A. English) and New Brunswick, Canada (M.A. English and Creative Writing), he has been living in the French part of Switzerland for the last twenty years with his wife, Brigitte. He has tried his hand at over 30 different jobs and is now embarking on his third creative career.

After writing and publishing poetry in numerous magazines and winning the same UK national poetry competition (Mary Wilkins Memorial Poetry Competition) two years running, Richard Morgan went into film-making and has been an independent director/producer for the last 15 years making company films and documentaries, some of which, such as 'Marie and Gilbert' and 'fin de courses' have gone out on Swiss National TV (TSR1 and 2) and been presented at various festivals.

Only when Richard Morgan moved into a house in 2004 after living in apartments for many years did he start seriously to explore his singing voice, and then to write/compose songs from 2005. He has just brought out an EP CD called ‘Letting Go’ with four of his songs, accompanied by Leo Chevalley on piano.

'I wanted to write songs with strong melody lines and reasonably intelligent lyrics - jazz with a sense of humour, if you like.'
